That Superstar Rajinikanth shares a special relationship with the family of thespian Sivaji Ganesan is an open secret. In fact, Rajini's biggest hit 'Chandramukhi' was produced by Sivaji Films, run by the Nadigar Thilakam's sons Prabhu and Ramkumar. Now that Prabhu's son Vikram is making his foray into acting with Prabhu Solomon directed 'Kumki', it is obvious that he would seek the blessings of Rajini. Recently, he met the Superstar at the latter's house and sought his greetings. "Rajini became a warm host and wished Vikram all the best in his acting career. He offered tips to Vikram as to how to excel in front of the camera. Also, Rajini was keen to know the storyline and other details of Kumki," say sources. Recently, Vikram met Ajith and sought his wishes too. 'Kumki' is being produced by Lingusamy's Tirupathi Brothers and the film is about an elephant and its mahout intertwined with a love story.

Actor Prabhu is elated as his son Vikram Prabhu has forayed into acting with Kumki. In a recent interview, the ace actor revealed, “He was also a jelly-belly like me. But he worked out really hard and reduced 25 kilos for the film. I haven’t visited the shooting spot to see how he is doing. I’m very sure he will be very successful.” Superstar Rajinikanth has praised the young actor after watching the grandson of Sivaji Ganesan work hard for his launch pad, Kumki. Commenting on this, Prabhu said, “Rajini is like one in our family. He has been watching Vikram since he was a kid. Kumki is an upcoming Tamil film to be directed by Prabu Solomon, starring Vikram Prabhu in his feature film debut.. The story revolves around kumki elephants,. with Vikram portraying a mahout. Produce by Thirupathi Brothers, the film rejoins the crew that worked on Solomon's successfulMynaa (2010). The film was launched in July 2011 and is scheduled for a early 2012 release..

Production

The film which was earlier titled as Komban, will be shot across the forests of Kerala and Karnataka. The film was shot at Jog falls at Karnataka. shooting was then happened in Kerala in dense jungles. For the climax portion, producers bought two-acres of land to shoot a scene where elephants destroy the land.

Soundtrack

Music is composed by D. Imman uniting with Prabhu Solomon for third time. Imaan took eight months to compose songs.
